Update on the 3 storms in the Atlantic

Three storms,one almost the strength of an hurricane is moving from the Atlantic and in the Caribbean. Latest update on a new tropical storm formed is Maria and it is expected to be a hurricane by Monday and a very extreme hurricane by Wednesday according to the National Center. Maria was last located 545 miles east-southeast of the Lesser Antilles,with great sustained winds of 50mph and is on the move to the Caribbean with winds of 16mph reported by the National Hurricane Center.

It was forecasted by the National Center that the core of Maria should reach the Leeward Island in 48-72 hours and then travel to Puerto Rico within 4 days then next to the eastern Hispaniola within 5 days. Sad to inform ,this shows that areas under bad conditions due to Irma could be dealing with other hurricanes by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Storm watch is put out for Barbados ,St Lucia ,Martinique ,Dominica and St.Vincent and the Grenadines.And Hurricane watch for Antigua,Barbuda,St Kitts ,Nevis and Montserrat,Guadeloupe,Saba and St Eustatius,St Maarten and Anguilla. The NHC said “Maria could also affect the British and Us Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico by mid week as a dangerous major hurricane and hurricane watches could be issued for these islands as early as Sunday. Interests in these areas should monitor the progress of Maria and follow any advice given by local officials.”

It was predicted by the center that Maria could increase with intensifying wind speed than forecasted. José a category 1 storm is located about 465 miles south-southeast of Cape Hattenas,North Carolina and 465 miles west -southwest of Bermuda. The center reported that José wind speed is of 80mph and should remain a hurricane through to Monday night.

The hurricane center said “While José is currently forecast to remain offshore of the Us coast from Virginia northward to New England, the large cyclone could cause some direct impacts to these areas and any deviation to the left of the NHC forecast track would increase the likelihood and magnitude of those impacts.”

Tropical Storm lee

The new storm formed Saturday ,Storm Lee is located 700 miles west-southwest of Cape Verole. It is travelling 40mph wind speed reported by the NHC. Storm lee is decreasing in its wind speed and is predicted to disappear within 5 days. There is no threat to the land the NHC said.
