Beenie Man’s Romie Creating Waves After 20 Years

Beenie Man’s song Romie is sampled in the hit song, Good Life by American rapper G Eazy and singer Kehlani. Romie was frist released 20 years’ ago.

Good Life is from the soundtrack to “Fate of The Furious,”which was more popularly known as “Fast & Furious 8,” the eighth installment in the Fast And Furious franchise.

Good Life is on charts across Europe,Australia and New Zealand. The song entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number 76 during this week.

On April 14 by Atlantic Records and Universal Music Group released the soundtrack. It has 14 tracks from various artiste such as Migos, Young Thug, 2 Chainz, Lil Uzi Vert, Kevin Gates, Pitbull, and Wiz Khalifa.

The all-star film’s release on April 14 was highly anticipated, which allowed it to be debuted at number 10 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart.

Vin Diesel, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Scott Eastwood, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky, Kurt Russell, and Charlize Theron are stars in the “Fate of The Furious.”

Andrew Thomas, Steven “Lenky” Marsden, Dean Mundy and Moses Davis (aka Beenie Man) are credited for the Good Life sample.

Romie is from Beenie Man’s seventh album “Maestro” and was featured on the popular “Punanny Nowadays Rhythm” from “Vibes House Productions,” which is a subsidiary of “Shocking Vibes Productions.”

Patrick Roberts, head of “Shocking Vibes Productions,” is elated that the song is generating such  big waves after 20 years.

Roberts said;

It’s always a great thing as a producer when your work is being sampled as long as you are given credit. At the end of the day it’s your body of work that lives on.

For the past two weekends Romie topped the North American Box Office and earned over US$196 million there. It has a worldwide gross of over US$914 million.

Beenie Man in an interview with Splash, spoke about the big waves his music from the 1990s has gotten through sampling.

Beenie Man said;

Last year Drake sampled “Tear Off Mi Garment” in “Controlla” an’ den Big Sean also did a sample of one of my songs. Sampling basically has given me a platform where I can reintroduce myself to the music world.
